A long-time lover of Type 2 fun, I’ve been immersed in athletics for a long time. Growing up I was a very competitive swimmer, a mediocre volleyball player, and traditional rock climber. Later, I emphasized a focus in Yoga (200hr teacher training certified), and then CrossFit (Level 1 Certified, Adaptive Training Certified). Through CrossFit I explored the basics of running, gymnastics, and weight training. Today I am a full-time Professor of Movement, and I teach my students that a deliberate and intentional strength training practice is the best thing you can do for your mind, body, and soul.

Hi, I'm Laura! I am a retired collegiate softball player who loves everything about strength training and fitness! I started my lifting career at a very young age, making sure to build a solid foundation with proper form! I then proceeded to obtain my Level 1 cert in CrossFit and Pregnancy & Post-Partum Athlete Training, Through my experiences, I have trained many athletes of all walks of life and on different fitness journeys. I truly believe strength training is for everyone, including YOU!
Pain. A part of life I find most interesting. On the one hand, pain is necessary. It exists to amplify the positive feeling of pleasure. Good things feel better when you have to work for them, and NO victory comes without work. Pain doesn't feel as good as pleasure, but it intensifies the good feelings pleasure provides. In the gym, I dig my teeth in and enjoy every bite of pain because I know that I will be rewarded with pleasure for it.

But a different type of pain exists in our bodies. The type of pain that sends a message to your brain saying THIS IS WRONG. I am all for pushing through the pain of a final heavy rep, but I draw the line at pain that grabs you, inhibits you, prevents you from being the savage you want to be.

This type of pain is not meant to be pushed through. It is meant to be listened to, and we are meant to adapt our movement patterns and weaknesses to eliminate this pain from your body, making room for all kinds of good, productive pain.

The answer is ALMOST NEVER surgery, needles, PILLS, stretching, massage, manipulation, or cracking. The solution will NEVER involve you laying back, passive, with work being done TO YOU. YOU HAVE TO DO THE WORK. A good teacher will show you how. Speaking of a good teacher....
